Retro surf T-shirt prompts.
Three different directions.

Start with a wave, not a blank canvas. These briefs specify the artwork, placement, lettering and colour treatment.

These are shared written examples, not unique prompts issued by our product. All three Brand DNAs are invented style profiles.

Last light surf club

Rounded wave shapes · thick contours · faded coral and cream · relaxed 1970s mood

Invented Brand DNA: Dusk Current

Prompt to paste

Create an original retro surf graphic for a navy T-shirt, aimed at coastal weekend surfers. Build a compact circular composition with one sweeping wave beneath a low sunset. Use broad, rounded forms and thick outer contours; leave generous negative space between the wave crest and sun. Make the wave the focal point and the sun a quiet secondary shape. Set only the words “Last light surf club” in rounded, hand-lettered capitals above the circle, with a gentle upward curve. Keep every letter distinct and readable at a small listing-thumbnail size. Limit the artwork to faded coral and warm cream; use the navy garment as the third visual colour rather than printing a navy rectangle. Add a few large, irregular wear marks inside solid shapes, not across letter edges. Design for a centred chest placement approximately 11 inches wide, subject to the printer’s template. Show the artwork alone, isolated on a transparent background, not a garment mockup. No photographs, famous surf-brand marks, copied badges or copyrighted characters. Invent the lettering and wave silhouette. Avoid gradients, tiny spray droplets, extra slogans and decorative borders. Treat this as an artwork direction, not a verified vector or colour-separated production file.

Small swell society

Loose curves · confident single-colour lines · playful restraint · beach-poster nostalgia

Invented Brand DNA: Pocket Tide

Prompt to paste

Design “Small swell society”: an original one-colour surf illustration for a sand-coloured T-shirt, aimed at beginners who enjoy mellow waves. Draw one small rolling wave with a simple longboard resting diagonally beneath it. Use dark teal ink only. Keep the board recognisable through its elongated outline and one broad centre stripe, with no logo or tiny fin detail. Arrange the wave above the board in a loose, vertically stacked composition; do not put either inside a crest or badge. Give the wave a fluid contour and two large interior cutouts that reveal the shirt colour. Set exactly “Small swell society” in friendly, slightly uneven block lettering beneath the illustration. The title should be narrower than the wave and visually secondary, but readable without zooming. Keep the edges clean rather than using all-over distress. Aim for an approximately 10-inch-wide centred chest graphic, adjusted to the selected garment template. Deliver isolated artwork on a transparent background with no sand-coloured rectangular fill. No staged beach scene, photography, garment mockup, existing surf label, copied character or trademarked symbol. Avoid fine hatch marks and narrow gaps that disappear when reduced. Request a simple flat graphic; inspect and prepare the actual file for the chosen printing method before production.

Offshore tomorrow

Angular geometry · strong spacing · rust and pale blue · late-1980s coastal energy

Invented Brand DNA: Horizon Relay

Prompt to paste

Create an original retro surf T-shirt graphic called “Offshore tomorrow” for people who check the forecast before dawn. Use a charcoal garment and a two-colour palette of rust orange and pale blue. Build a wide, geometric horizon composition: three angular wave bands on the lower half, a small rising sun above, and a tall offset rectangle framing only the left side. Keep the wave bands separated by broad charcoal gaps; avoid water realism or intricate foam. The sun should occupy a small part of the artwork so the waves remain dominant. Place exactly “Offshore tomorrow” in sturdy condensed sans-serif lettering on two lines above the waves. Keep the lettering level, evenly spaced and large enough to read in a shop thumbnail. Add sparse, coarse halftone texture inside the sun only; keep the type and wave edges solid. Design for an approximately 12-inch-wide chest placement, with margins checked against the printer’s template. Deliver artwork alone on a transparent background; charcoal comes from the shirt, not a background panel. Invent the composition and letterforms rather than reproducing any existing surf identity. No real brand names, logos, copyrighted characters, mockups or photographic sunsets. Avoid gradients, microtext and thin decorative rules. This is an image-generation brief; do not claim the resulting image is a vector, a separated screen-print file or ready to print without inspection.

Before you list

A good brief still needs
a print check.

Image tools can misread lettering, add unwanted backgrounds or invent extra detail. Inspect the output before ordering a sample.

Check every letter at full size and in a small shop thumbnail. Remove unwanted backgrounds and inspect transparency.

Use your printer’s required file format, dimensions and colour settings. A transparent PNG is not automatically a vector file.

For screen printing, confirm line thickness, negative-space gaps and colour separations with your printer. Order a physical sample before selling.

Invented Brand DNA is a creative starting point, not a legal clearance. Review artwork and wording for your market.
