After Hours
Expedition
A trail badge with an after-dark attitude.
Core design brief
Create “After Hours Expedition”: an original outdoor badge for a charcoal graphic tee, aimed at hikers who stay out past sunset. A roaring bear rises in front of jagged mountain peaks like a weathered trail-club patch. Design for a centred chest print, approximately 12 inches wide. Deliver the artwork alone, not a shirt mockup.
Focal element & composition
Fit the bear and peaks inside a compact hexagon. Give the bear a broad brow, open muzzle and bold outer contour; avoid tiny fur strokes or crowded teeth. Keep the face dominant, the mountains secondary and the title readable at a glance. Leave open charcoal gaps between major shapes so the badge holds together in a small listing thumbnail.
Typography & colour
Use only the words “After Hours Expedition”, in sturdy slab-serif lettering curved above the bear. No extra slogans or placeholder text. Limit the artwork to burnt orange, pale coral and muted violet; let the charcoal shirt supply the dark areas. Use flat colour shapes, not gradients, with coral highlights on the muzzle and violet mountain shadows.
Texture & print craft
Add sparse, coarse halftone shading within the bear and mountains for a worn expedition-patch feel. Keep lettering and outer edges clean; avoid fine speckles and hairline gaps. Request isolated artwork on a transparent background. Before listing, check the lettering, remove any unwanted background and resize to the printer’s required dimensions. Image-tool output still needs print checks; it is not a verified vector or separated screen-print file.
Originality constraints
Invent the badge from this style direction. Do not borrow an existing outdoor logo, badge layout, trademarked pattern or copyrighted character. No photography, garment mockups or staged scenes.
